beijing daxing international airport is a super-large integrated international air transport hub between daxing district of beijing and anci district of langfang city, hebei province. according to the passenger throughput of 100 million, 800,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings, seven runways and about 1.4 million square meters area of terminal buildings for 2040. furthermore, the reserved control land for airports will be reserved in consideration to 130 million terminal passenger throughput, 103,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings, and nine runways in 2050.
the airport is the third civil airport after beijing capital international airport and beijing nanyuan airport (to be relocated) in beijing. four runways and a dual-purpose runway (i.e. the air force nanyuan new airport), 700,000 square meters terminal building and 92 parking bay for aircraft are planned to be built by the end of 2019. when the passenger flow reaches 45 million people, the first satellite hall will be built, making the area of the terminal building to 820,000 square meters, 137 aircraft parking bay, as to meet the design capacity of 72 million passengers.
in july 2018, the beijing new airport construction and operation preparatory general schedule integrated control plan was officially released, which made it clear that the beijing new airport and its supporting projects would be completed and accepted on june 30, 2019, and put into operation on september 30, 2019.
